The Guardian ad Litem Project Advisory Committee drafted Guidelines for Guardians ad Litem Practicing in the Court of Common Pleas for Cuyahoga County ~ Juvenile Division, which were adopted by the Court in Local Rule 19(E).

In 2001, the Ohio Supreme Court formed the Guardian ad Litem Standards Task Force recognizing the important role the GAL serves in the judicial system. The Cuyahoga County Bar Association Juvenile Court Guardian ad Litem Project's Guidelines already comply with the vast majority of the Task Force Recommendations. The Task Force recommends a cap of one thousand dollars ($1000.00). Cuyahoga County pays the court appointed GAL two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00).
